E37 – Daniel Pinchbeck on Ecological Crisis, Systemic Change and Collective Action // How soon is now? A call to action

Daniel Pinchbeck - The Future Is Beautiful

“Figuring out how we take care of our context and help as best we can to shift to something more sustainable and regenerative – this is more spiritual than what most people are doing, but for most people it is uncomfortable…Maybe the revolutionary next move is that this exotic travel is an unhealthy addiction – what would it take to create a cooperative utopia where we are rather than going to these other places?”~ Daniel Pinchbeck

About this interview:

How can we collectively act now to dramatically shift our course to a better planetary future?

In this episode Amisha meets author and speaker Daniel Pinchbeck in The Assembladge. His most recent book “How Soon is Now” looks at the ecological crisis as a rite of passage or initiation for humanity and proposes a “blueprint for the future”.

Daniel speaks about the disruptive breaks and shifts in consciousness required to address our global crises and the technological, systemic and social solutions which will support them. He explains how blockchain makes truly egalitarian systems possible, such as disrupting entire industries through taking out the middle men, creating a universal basic income and allowing a truly decentralised voting system.

We hear why collective mass action is our best hope for change, how Facebook offers the potential of organising for collective action but thwarts us from having the power and why we must prepare now to act quickly when the next breaking point comes. We learn how gigantic kelp farms can reverse ocean acidification, how a planetary terraforming project could avert total climate meltdown and the shifts we must make in our dietary and agricultural practises.

Amisha and Daniel explore too what stands in the way of our committed collective action. They speak about spiritual materialism and creating a utopia where we stand rather than travelling the globe in search of better ways. They examine the inertia of our governmental and financial system and the need for a new operating system to allow us to move forward. Daniel shares what the Aztec and Mayan shaman’s predicted for this period of our collective evolution – the gateways we have passed and those that are coming up soon.

“We are in this process of disintegration – an accelerated meltdown of what were stable aspects of our planetary support system- expressing something within us that has to die, change and be reborn.” ~ Daniel Pinchbeck

Daniel Pinchbeck is an American bestselling author living in New York’s East Village.
